About Virtually New, Remanufactured and Refurbished Pumps
When you buy a remanufactured pump from GASO.com you are actually buying a "Virtually New Pump". All of our remanufactured pumps are built to the exacting factory specifications of the original equipment. With the exception of the Power Frame casing and the Fluid End casting, all of the components of the remanufactured pumps are new*.

Every one of our "Virtually New" pumps goes through a series of inspections and test before it is finally assembled. The first step is to select a used Power Frame Case (PFC) and Fluid End Casting (FEC) from inventory. Because the Power End casing is a non-moving part, they seldom show signs of wear unless they have had some history of failure. I.e. a broken crankshaft or rod. In such instances, those cases are removed from consideration for use in the assembly of a "Virtually New" pump.
Any Power Frame case that is used is of the highest quality with no visible or known blemishes or defects. Once a PFC is found to be acceptable, it is cleaned and sandblasted to bare metal. It is then thoroughly re-inspected for defects that may have been hidden before. If a PFC passes this inspection, it is primed and painted and ready for final assembly.

The final assembly is a tedious and exacting process starting with the installation of the crankshaft and main bearings. Once the crankshaft and main bearings have been installed and proper clearances and rotation is certified, the connecting rods, shell bearings and rest of the Power Frame components are assembled and reinspected and tested for proper operation. All new parts of the highest quality are used in the final assembly of a remanufactured PFC. New Bearings, connecting rods, gears, crankshafts and every other moving part are all included in a remanufactured pump.
Unlike the PFC, the Fluid End Casting is subject to varying degrees of wear from a number of different factors associated with normal operation of a pump. The pumping of abrasive and corrosive materials are prime contributors to wear. Likewise, cavitation is a prime contributor to excessive wear on a fluid end casting. So, the approach to remanufacturing a FEC is somewhat different. Once a FEC is disassembled, it goes through a series of visual inspections.

First of all the stuffing boxes are looked at for wear. Depending on prior service, varying degrees of wear can be observed. If the stuffing boxes are found to be in "near new" condition they will be left alone. If they are not in excellent condition they will be bored and resleeved to OEM specifications.
Next, the valve decks are examined for wear. If there is any sign of wear at all, the valve decks are re-machined or re-sleaved and machined to original factory specifications and new valves are installed.
Last, The cylinder head and valve cover surfaces on both the covers and Casting are examined for wear. If there is any apparent wear, the surface on the FEC is machined and the cylinder heads and valve covers are replaced with new ones as well as their studs and fasteners.

Depending on the production time of the pump, the installation of plungers or Pistons may be incorporated in the final stage of the Power Frame Assembly or the Fluid End Assembly. Or in cases where only a Liquid End Assembly is needed, the plungers will most likely be shipped loose along with the Liquid end. All gaskets, packings and seals used in our remanufactured pumps are new.
*In some instances we will use a pre-run crankshaft if the tolerances are within the factory's criteria for new crankshaft.
Please note that Virtually New pumps and remanufactured pumps are different than a refurbished pump. A refurbished pump is inspected for defects and wear with only needed parts being replaced.
